Mountain Green the beautiful

What a wonderful weekend. On Wednesday, my fantastic fiance and I headed up to his lovely hometown of Mountain Green, UT (Pop. 1600). It is beautiful and tranquil and picturesque. I love being there because it is such a foreign existence, small-town Utah. Everyone is Mormon. And so friendly and open and warm. And the small-town Utah life isn't so bad as I had made it out to be. We attended the July 24th festivities (for those of you not in Utah, that's Pioneer Day... about the equivalent of July 4th) where all the little families came out for face painting and volleyball and corn-on-the-cob. We swam in the local reservoir. We hiked up to the water tower. We hung out with old friends and welcomed home a missionary. The days were packed and the nights were relaxed, and I love spending every waking hour (and some sleeping hours... for which we were berated by his mother) with Tim. Getting to know his past is so great to me... it feels like I'm more a part of him than before. Understanding his past enables me to envision our future. The first 21 years of our lives were great, but we are looking forward to spending the next half-century or so completely devoted to each other in a wonderful, fulfilling and exciting marriage! Being engaged is cool and all, but I can't wait to be married to this kid. Two months. We took a detour to Temple Square on the way up to have a moment at "our" temple. While there, Tim did a real proposal, in front of the temple and all. It was fun.

Adventures in baby-sitting

Recently, Tim and I have been practicing our parental skills on the bishop's kids. We're convinced he is actually just keeping us busy at night so we remain chaste while we're engaged. But we enjoy it either way :)

On one particular night, we ate at Rice King, got slurpees, played in the drainage system, and indulged in a rousing game of Settlers (which I won, I'd like to add)

Rice King and spoon-balancing.

Awkward picture... I think I was trying to pull him in.

Staged?

Settlers!

Indulging Kayla

Ok. You asked for it Kayla :)

"But he continued, guiding her hand to his belt buckle while forcing off her clothes, the fleece, the soft T-shirt below that. He pulled down her jeans, revealing thighs that were chilled and reddened, as if from a sunburn. They took off their shoes and socks, a mess of wet grass clippings falling onto the carpet, then positioned themselves on the mattress..."

-Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri

Ok, so I cheated a bit on this one. The closest book was actually The Holy Temple by Boyd K. Packer but the sentences were boring so I grabbed the book I was reading last night. And technically this is page 126, but the first chapter starts on page 3, so technically it is page 123. Ironically enough, it's the only racy scene in the entire book. But they're married, so it's ok.

**NOTE: A game Kayla challenged me to- pick up the closest book and type the three sentences after the fifth sentence on page 123.

Planning the weddingness

Ok. So I did not realize how extensive wedding planning is. My ideal reception is dancing in a poppy field to a folk band barefoot in a flowy, knee-length off-white dress. What's up with 700-dollar dresses and receptions in cultural halls and catering and flowers and luncheons and invitations and honeymoons and married housing and registering (ok, so that actually was REAL fun) and receiving lines and bridal showers and gazillions of other things I told myself I would never do but now I'm sucked into doing?? I will not let my wedding stress me out. That is for my mother to do :) Rather, I think I will choose to consume my thoughts with being sealed for time and all eternity to my best friend.
